FAQ for Presenters

General Guidelines

Presenters should arrange to be at your presentation location at least 15 minutes ahead of time.

Please ensure you have practiced your presentation in advance and that you know how to rez your presentation materials.

Not all presentation spaces are dedicated to the conference this year. If you want to practice ahead of time you may do so at the VWBPE Workshop (slurl). Those presenting at the main VWBPE Auditorium are encouraged to come the weekend before the conference to do a walk through of the space in advance.

If you need a group tag to rez objects in your presentation space, please see Phelan Corrimal to get a tag. The master schedule should indicate which group tag you need to rez. The tags are not all the same this year so please do not leave this to the last minute if you have not accepted your tags in advance.

Presenter tools and group tags can be picked up in the VWBPE Administration Center (slurl) after March 6th.

Green Rooms for presenters are available for the VWBPE Main Auditorium (slurl) and Rockcliffe Rotunda (slurl). Please use these slurls for teleporting so as not to disturb presentations in progress. For all other locations please use the public slurl to the presentation venue.

If you get lost or are having trouble finding your way around, please goto the main VWBPE Gateway (slurl) and someone there will help you get to your location

Q: Can I use my own presentation device

A: Yes. There is no restriction as to which presentation device you use.

Q: Do I have to use a presentation device

A: No. If you don't need one for your presentation then you don't need to rez one.

Q: Will there be security? What do I do if there is a problem?

A: Yes. Security will be patrolling the various locations throughout the conference. If there is a problem on the sim, please let the moderator or stage manager handle the issue and/or approach security for you. If for some reason these people are AFK, IM Phelan Corrimal directly or poke one of the security people to lend a hand.

Q: I lost voice - now what?

A: If you lose voice keep going with text. Depending on the nature of the problem it may require a relog to get voice back. Your time limit however will not be extended as it will delay other people after your session. If necessary - you should have an "ear mic" in your inventory if you picked one up in advance from the administration center. That will ensure that your typed chat can be seen by people up to 100m away from the stage.

Q: Will my session be filmed?

A: Unfortunately we have not received sufficient sponsorship to make arrangements for filming of all sessions this year. If your session is one of those we have indicated we would like to be filmed, please make sure you complete a film release at (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/7ZQRBPR.

If you would like to make arrangements to film your own session you are welcome to do so. Filming of other sessions which are not your own can only be done with the permission of the presenter. If you film your own session the VWBPE committee would appreciate a copy of the link so that we may include it in the Conference Proceedings Journal to be published in April.
